What Is EXIF Metadata?

Every digital photo contains EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) metadata recorded by your camera at the time of capture. This data includes technical shooting parameters such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, focal length, metering mode, and focus distance. RAW files typically contain far more metadata than JPEGs, including manufacturer-specific data known as MakerNotes that record proprietary camera settings.

Why View RAW Metadata?

Understanding your metadata helps you improve as a photographer. By reviewing the settings used for your best shots, you can identify patterns and refine your technique. Metadata is also essential for organizing large photo libraries, resolving copyright disputes, and verifying the authenticity of images. For professionals, metadata provides proof of when and how an image was created.

Comprehensive Data Display

JustConvertRAW reads and displays all standard EXIF fields as well as extended metadata specific to your camera brand. The viewer organizes data into clear categories: camera and lens information, exposure settings, GPS coordinates (if present), color space data, and more. All processing happens locally in your browser, so your files and their metadata remain completely private.
