What Is the RAF Format?

RAF (RAW Format) is Fujifilm's proprietary RAW image format. RAF files contain unprocessed sensor data from Fujifilm's unique X-Trans CMOS sensors, which use a distinctive 6x6 color filter array instead of the traditional Bayer pattern. This sensor design reduces moire artifacts without requiring an optical low-pass filter, resulting in sharper images. RAF files preserve the full 14-bit color depth and dynamic range of the sensor.

Which Cameras Use RAF?

RAF files are produced by Fujifilm's X-series mirrorless cameras and GFX medium format system. Popular models include the X-T5, X-T4, X-T30 II, X-H2S, X-H2, X-S20, X-S10, X-Pro3, X100VI, X100V, and the medium format GFX 100S, GFX 100 II, and GFX 50S II. Fujifilm cameras are especially beloved by street, documentary, and travel photographers for their outstanding color science and retro design.
